Dunlap Named Distinguished Graduate for Fall 2022

The faculty of the Eastern Kentucky University Aviation Program recently named Matthew Dunlap as the Distinguished Graduated for the fall 2022 Semester. Dunlap, a native of Greenville, Indiana, is graduating with a B.S. in Aviation, concentrations in Professional Flight and Aerospace Management, and a Minor in Business.

Samuel Priest ('09) Named Young Alumni Award Winner

He grew up just down the street from Bowman Field in Louisville and would often ride his bicycle to the airport to watch the planes come and go. Across town, his father worked with UPS World Port at what is now Muhammad Ali International Airport and would often take his son into the cockpit of the big cargo planes.

The pandemic’s impact on the aviation industry will likely be felt for years to come. Among the setbacks for students in the Aviation Program at Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) has been a sharp decline in in the availability of internships at airports and airlines around the country.

Taylor Named Fall 2021 Distinguished Senior

Eastern Kentucky University’s Aviation Program has named Nicholas G. Taylor of Campbellsville, Kentucky as its Distinguished Senior for the Fall Class of 2021.  Taylor will graduate from EKU with a B.S. in Aviation, including concentrations in Professional Flight and Aerospace Management, along with a Minor in Business.

Megan Toban ('10), Director of Operations and Business Development, gives a tour of the new state-of-the-art Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport Operations Center. Several gradutes of the EKU Aviation program also work at the airport in a variety of roles in addition to the airport hosting internships, tours, and guest speakers for current EKU students throughout the year.

Aviation Awards Scholarships for 2021-2022

The Eastern Kentucky University Aviation Program Scholarship Committee has awarded nine scholarships for the 2021-2022 academic year. The selections followed a lengthy application and review process which evaluated the students’ academic achievements, university and industry engagement, and overall financial need.

Freeman Named 2021 Distinguished Senior for College of Business and Technology

Joseph “Emmet” Freeman has been named the Distinguished Senior for the EKU College of Business and Technology for the Class of 2021. Freeman, who will graduate in May with a B.S. in Aviation and dual concentrations in Professional Flight and Aerospace Management, received the award after a unanimous nomination from the Aviation Program faculty.

EKU Aviation Receives Award for Virtual Training Excellence

The Aviation Program at Eastern Kentucky University was recently presented with the “2020 Award for Training Excellence” by Digicast, a virtual aviation training platform of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE).

Scholarship Helps a Young Mother Achieve Her Dreams
